There are 9 races: Hero, Elf, Helios, Dhanus, Daimon, Gigas, Drogo, Triton and Aegis. Aegis start at level 70; every other race starts at level 1. The box under Hair shows the start area: Tutorial Zone for most races, Thessalia Garrison for Aegis. Triton are the exception: the box says Tutorial Zone, but you load into Triton's Birth.

4Your first 30 minutes

1. Follow the Step 1/15 … 15/15 NPCs through the Tutorial Zone; Step 15 sends you to your home town. Triton start in Triton's Birth; Aegis skip the tutorial.
2. Most races start with a class weapon, a potion, 10 Town Portal Stones and a Mark of a New Adventurer (keep it). Triton start with potions instead of a weapon and stones; Aegis start with potions and portal stones. You start with 0 gold.
3. Open Merged Inventory: the Event tab has your welcome pack (mount, pet, bags and more), the Mall tab has daily login rewards.
4. In your home town (all races except Triton and Aegis), take "The Beginning of the Legend" from your town Gatekeeper (Dhanus: the Stygia Entrance Guard) and hunt 5 easy monsters. It pays 3 Growth Seals (EXP +150%): use them.
5. At Lv5 you get 5 free Laurion Crystal Mine Portal Stones; at Lv10 "To the Quarry" sends you there. The mine has quests up to Lv29.

5Getting around

• Double-click a Town Portal Stone and pick a town (60 s cooldown); on a Hero character the list shows 6 towns. Hero players arrive at the Hermoupolis Gate in Fields of Demeter, next to their Gatekeeper Aristope.
• The busy player hub is Pireas Harbor (your minimap may say Sea of the Sirens there). Your town Gatekeeper can send you there for gold (27,000 at Lv1, more at higher levels), or buy a Pireas Harbor Entrance Portal Stone for 36,000 gold.

!Known issues in this beta

• Whispers you receive are labelled "To <name>" instead of "From <name>".
Read the name, not the label: incoming and outgoing whispers currently look alike.
• Mac: sound can hang or cut out when the Mac is locked or used through a remote-desktop session.
Play on an unlocked Mac at the machine itself; remote sessions are not a supported way to play the beta.
• Two god-hunt quests have no summary text in the quest journal.
The quest still works; follow the objective list and the NPC dialogue.
• Four quest titles will be renamed in a later patch.
The quests work normally; only their names will change.
